The SAC serves seniors staying in 1 or 2-room rental apartments as well as studio apartments. The programmes and services provided aim to improve the physical, mental and social wellness of the seniors and to prevent social isolation. SAC also monitors the Alarm Alert System (where it is installed) to render assistance when the seniors activate the system in emergency situation.
Senior Cluster Networks reach out to and support vulnerable seniors, help them to stay engaged in the community and receive coordinated care. It consists of a range of services comprising Senior Activity Centres, case management teams, assisted living options and volunteers.
The department strives to provide the best lifelong education to our seniors. It offers the Integrated Programme for Seniors (IP4S) which adopted the E3 approach of Experience, Extend and Excel to provide participants with more opportunities to immerse themselves in a more broad-based education.
The ILP aims to encourage intergenerational bonding by matching youths and seniors in a group learning environment. Through practical lessons, seniors acquire new knowledge while youths share theirs and learn character building.
Through the Community Befriending Programme, volunteer befrienders visit seniors in their neighbourhood regularly to keep loneliness and social isolation away. At the same time, volunteer befrienders help to act as eyes and ears so that seniors’ needs can be better understood and supported.
The eldercare division actively promotes volunteerism in the community, so that both the elderly and non-elderly residents can remain active and meaningfully engaged.
