Background

The formation of “My Thrift Shop”, a pilot project initiated by Fei Yue Neighbourhood Link (Holland Close), is to enable elderly and needy residents to be actively engaged in spending their time meaningfully. In addition, they will have the opportunity to earn an income through working at the shop.

Aims

• Engage the elderly and needy residents staying within the vicinity of Buona Vista Zone “B” by equipping them with new skills in retail and help them earn extra income through the operation of a thrift shop.
• Provide opportunities for families to shop for relatively unused but good working condition items at a discount.
• Allow families to consign non-essential items and exchange for essential items of equivalent value. (Applicable to Blk 1 Holland Close Residents only)

Promote Friendly Neighbourhood

Located in the Bouna Vista heartlands, residents too can visit “My Thrift Shop” to shop for items as well as drop off donated items.
Apart from helping the elderly and needy residents earn some extra income, the project also promotes social cohesion as well as community bonding and ownership within the neighbourhood.
All proceeds derived form the sales of items will be channeled back into funding community activities and operating expenditure of the Neighbourhood Link.

Helping My Thrift Shop

One very important way in which you can help My Thrift Shop is to donate items which we can then sell.
We hope to seek your understanding that we are not able to accept everything. The rule of thumb when deciding whether your donation will be able to be accepted by us is – Will someone be willing to buy it from our shop?

What we are unable to accept:

• Electrical and electronics items
• Media items (eg: DVDs, VCDs)
• Bulky items (eg: furniture, mattress)
• Flammable items
• Items in a damaged or poor condition or that we consider to be unsellable.

How to donate

You are welcome to bring items for donation to “My Thrift Shop” or any Fei Yue Family Service Centres and Neighbourhood Links.

Saturday: 10am to 1pm
Sunday & Public Holiday: Closed
